Elva Delport, M.D. specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation concentrating on the diagnosis and management of spine and peripheral joint disorders. She is proficient in interventional spinal and peripheral joint injections, including lumbar discography and IDET procedures, done under x-ray guidance for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Dr. Delport attended the University of Manitoba, Canada where she obtained a Bachelor of Physical Education (1981), and Doctor of Medicine (1988). She completed her residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1996 at the University of Manitoba and then completed a two year fellowship in interventional spinal and peripheral joint injection techniques in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1998. She is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in both Canada and the United States.
Dr. Delport is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
She is also a member of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation. Dr. Delport has worked with the Canadian Air Force as a flight medical officer, an air crash investigator, an addictions counselor, and has taught medical assistants. She continues to be involved in spine research and is a published author.
Dr. Delport is currently focusing her efforts on the diagnosis of musculoskeletal pain. She works collaboratively with an orthopedic spine surgeon, spine qualified physical therapists, and performs fluoroscopically guided injections to determine the pain generator in spine pain and to provide quality spine care to patients in an outpatient setting.
